Concurrent Engineering

Through concurrent engineering, AMS collaborates with our customers throughout a component’s design-to- manufacture process, lowering product costs by compressing lead times, improving product yields, and increasing manufacturing throughput.

AMS contributes skilled engineering staff, computer-based design and process simulation, rapid prototyping facilities, and materials characterization capabilities to this process. Our expertise and computer design tools shorten manufacturing lead-time by reducing the number of pre-production casting trials and identifying opportunities for process improvement.  Rapid prototypes enable form-fit-function reviews or, in some cases, eliminate the need for permanent tooling. Our materials characterization capabilities insure process consistency and product quality, and provide a basis for continuous process improvement.

Materials Characterization

With an expert staff, the latest equipment, and modern facilities, Applied Materials Science has extensive materials characterization capability and experience to support new product and process development, continuous process improvement, and precision manufacturing.  We have the ability to characterize materials from the nanoscopic to macroscopic realm through high resolution imaging (SEM/EDS, dye penetrant, radiography), chemical analysis (ICP, XRD, TGA, etc.), and physical testing (tensile, surface hardness, etc.).
